The Great Beer Journey – A Virtual Trip Around The World in Search of Great Beer

There is a great world of beer out there and I’m diving head “thirst” into it. I’m going to circumnavigate the globe looking for new craft beer experiences, from country to country starting at home here in Denmark and then heading out into Europe. All of it virtual, of course. I’m “travelling” but without moving.

What fun would a world wide quest for weird and wonderful craft beer be without a set of rules?

Rules

I will start my journey in Europe as mentioned and in Denmark and then go from beer to beer from country to country until I’ve hopefully had a beer from all possible countries in Europe, Where I go after that, is undecided. But most likely on to North America or Asia.

Rule #1

The countries must be bordering each other.

I start at home in Denmark and find a brewery and a beer and then head off to a neighbouring country. Meaning either Germany or Sweden. There I find a brewery and beer and head off to the next neighbour. The country must share a border or at the very least have just a small body of water seperating the two nations. Meaning no beer from Iceland, but Ireland/Northern Ireland are ok.

Rule #2

Same beer twice is a no go and look for something new

I cannot choose the same beer style two times in a row meaning a lager in Denmark cannot mean a lager in the following country. It must be a different style.

I will try to seek out breweries I have never had beers from or at the very least beers from breweries I haven’t had before.

Rule #3

Going back through a country means another beer

In order to go to some countries I will end up going through a country I’ve already been to. When that happens I will have another beer from a different brewery than the first time and if possible a different beer style.

I will be rating these beers on a scale of 1-5 Untappd style. And speaking of Untappd you can follow my journey there as well @deskeff.

Bonus

If it’s impossible for me to find a beer online from a country I have to go through, you will have the posibilty to choose on an Instagram story what beer I should drink from the next country, or if I should shotgun a can of really awful macro beer. I will share that video on TikTok and on an Instagram.

I might have to use for help from time to time if I’m to find beer from countries that will be difficult to source craft beer from. At least from my usual outlets.
