Rating Chicken Sandwiches/Burgers – Max Burger’s Spicy Chicken
Spicy Chicken Burger (10/20)
Max Burger – Herlev, Copenhagen, Denmark
The spice saves the day
The swedish fast food chain Max Burger is not in any way my favourite fast food burger place, but I’ve had decent burgers there before. I’ve never had one of their chicken burgers and they have quite a few to choose from, which ultimately is where they fail in my opinion. They simply have too many choices and too many possibilities to fuck up a burger. They should have just one chicken burger on the menu and focus all their energy on that one burger, instead of having a handful of subpar burgers. But there is probably a cold-blooded financial decision tied to their massive array of burger options.
Anyhow here’s my rating: (if you’re not sure how the rating works, and what the idea behind it is click here..)
The Chicken Burger Rating Scale (overall 4 – 20)
Meat (1 – 5)
Bun (1 – 5)
Fillings (1 – 5) (e.g. veggies, cheese, sauces, etc.)
Presentation/Experience (1-5) (e.g. structure, burger integrity, freshness, service level, overall burger experience etc.)
Spicy Chicken Burger:
Meat (3) – Initially the crispy fried chicken piece was juicy, the batter was ok, and I was really surprised at the spice level. It was really spicy with a good amount of cayenne – which I like. Unfortunately the batter became soft and soggy halfway through and that kind of ruined it in the end.
I gave it a small 3 based on the surprising spice level.
Bun (3) – Soft and squishy like a brioche bun should be. Could still be better.
Fillings (2) – Honestly somewhat boring. Some iceberg lettuce and a tomato slice and the only sauce was plain mayo. Probably the biggest disapointment.
Presentation/Experience (2) – The burger looked nowhere near like the burger in the picture at the ordering screen but honestly no fast food place burger does that. It was very dull looking and very non-instagramable. I had it as take-out but the burger was actually still really hot when I came back home and I don’t think the soggyness of the batter had nothing to do with the fact that I took it home with me. Value for money was pretty good though. Especially since I got it as a combo (menu) with fries and a soda. The burger might be a bit pricey if you just buy a stand alone burger. But that’s often the case with these fast food burger chains. They want you to get the combo.
Overall: 10 out of 20 (rating score: Ok)
+ Great spice level, well tasting fairly juicy piece of chicken
– Boring fillings.
Would I buy again?

Would I go to Max Burgers again?
